App Development Cost Calculator

Answer six questions. Get a rough cost range in USD and a timeline in weeks, plus what drives the number. It takes about a minute.

Estimate your app

02Product type
03Number of core screens
04Features Pick all that apply
05Design level
06Timeline urgency

App development cost depends on a few decisions you can make today. This calculator turns those decisions into the price range Batriders usually charges, so you can plan a budget before we talk.

How the estimate works

Each product type starts from a base range for one platform, about eight core screens, and a template-based design. A simple app starts at $3,500 to $5,500. A marketplace starts at $10,000 to $17,000, because it serves two kinds of users and needs payouts. No project starts below $5,000.

The calculator then adjusts that base:

  • Screens scale the base, from ×1 for up to 8 screens to ×2.3 for 30 or more.
  • Features add a fixed range each. Payments add $1,000 to $2,500. Real-time chat adds $1,500 to $3,500.
  • Platforms multiply the total. iOS and Android together add about 30 percent with one shared codebase.
  • Design adds 25 percent for custom work over a proven design system.
  • Urgency adds 20 percent for a rush build, and trims the timeline.

These are our own prices, from a senior team working in daily increments. Typical agency quotes in the wider market are often several times higher, as our guides to how much it costs to build an app and MVP development cost show. Totals above $150,000 show as "$150,000+". Past that point a range says little, and you need a scoped plan.

What moves the cost

Price follows hours, and hours follow decisions. These move the number most:

  1. User types. A buyer, a seller, and an admin are three products on one set of data. That is why marketplaces and on-demand apps cost more.
  2. Integrations. Payments, maps, banking, and health APIs each bring setup, edge cases, and testing.
  3. Platforms. A web app, a mobile app, or both. Compare the routes on our web app development and mobile app development pages.
  4. Design depth. Custom illustration and motion add weeks. A clean design system is enough for most first releases.
  5. Team and region. Agency rates run from about $30 to $200 or more per hour. A senior team often costs less per feature.

The build is not the whole bill. Hosting, store accounts, and updates start the week you launch. Plan 15 to 20 percent of the build cost per year. Our post on app maintenance cost after launch breaks it down.

How to lower it

Most savings come from scope, not from a lower hourly rate. The cheapest feature is the one you never build.

  • Pick one core loop. Build the single action that proves the idea. Cut the rest from the first release.
  • Start on fewer screens. Moving from 15 screens to 8 often cuts a quarter of the cost.
  • Use proven services. Sign-in, payments, and email are solved problems. Pay for a service instead of building one.
  • Go cross-platform. One codebase for iOS and Android costs far less than two native apps.
  • Write a clear brief. Vague requirements become change requests, and change requests become invoices.
  • Time-box the first release. A fixed date forces early choices. Our 2Sprint builds a focused first release in 14 days, from $5,000.

When you have a range you can live with, book a call. We will tell you honestly what fits, and send a written estimate with the assumptions behind it.

Questions

How accurate is this app cost calculator?

It shows the range Batriders usually charges for a setup like yours. It is not a final quote: the exact price comes after a short call and a written scope, and it normally lands inside this range.

How much does an MVP cost?

With Batriders, a focused MVP for iOS and Android usually costs $5,000 to $12,000, and 2Sprint delivers one in 14 days from $5,000. Larger products such as marketplaces usually land between $30,000 and $70,000. Across the wider market, agencies often quote several times more.

Is it cheaper to build for iOS and Android at once?

Yes, with a cross-platform build. One shared codebase serves both stores, so the cost lands closer to one app than two. The calculator adds about 30 percent for the second platform, not 100 percent.

What costs come after launch?

Hosting, third-party services, store accounts, OS updates, and bug fixes. A common rule of thumb is 15 to 20 percent of the build cost per year for maintenance.
